What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

1. My Photoshop skills have improved massively from the preliminary task to the main task front cover. In the preliminary task none of the layers merge together and look professional as they do in the main task. The reason for this is by the main task my skills had developed much further that the first task and so I was able to use things such as a colour balance to manipulate my image to make it look more professional. I also learnt how to use the tools such as the outer flow and inner glow which I used in my main task front cover on my main cover line.

2. During the production I also needed to use programs such as dafont whereby I used this to import fonts onto the computer to use in my magazine.

3. When producing my contents page and double page spread I had to use the software Quark. I had never used this before and so everything produced on there was done by skills I had learnt and developed throughout the process of constructing my magazine. Things like inserting a drop cap took me a while to find out how to do which meant this slowed down the rate of production however once I had played around on quark for a bit I got to grips with the tools and could quickly insert a drop cap when I needed one.

4. Throughout the production of my media product I have had to develop and learn new skills in software’s I am not familiar with. The first software I had to develop my skills on was blogger. Although this was simple to use once I had set it up it took me a bit of getting used to find everything I needed to make my blog look the best it could. Another site I needed time to figure out was evalandgo. I used this for my audience research and feedback and so it was essential I developed my skill in this site so that I could gain the most from making the surveys.

5. When I was taking the photographs for the magazine I became aware of how to work a SLR camera and also learnt the importance of lighting when taking images for a magazine. Before taking the images for my front cover I went away with the camera and did some outdoor shots to get used to the settings on the camera to get the best possible shot for my front cover.
