Lauren's Separation Techniques

1. Filtiration

1.1. Mechanical process of separating solids a holey article. ie. paper in a coffee filter.

2. Magnetism

2.1. When a magnet is used to separate magnetic materials.

3. Decanting

3.1. To gradually pour or to drain out a liquid.

4. Evaporation

4.1. when particles leave a liquid and mix with surronding particles as vapour. The particles become gas.

5. Distilation

5.1. allows you to take the both the solute and solvent from a solution. ie. Salt water, use distilation to extract the salt. (involves boiling)

6. Sifting

6.1. A way to separate solids as it passes through a screen. involves shaking.
