2. Teaching and Learning: How can I implement the usage of retelling and summarizing in my instruction?
2.1. Jaden is a strong reader. He can pick out the key ideas. He needs to work on dictation and speech, so retelling would help him to develop this skill
2.1.1. Retelling is focused on expressive language, which is a need for him. For instance, "Thank you for learning me words" is a phrase he told me when I was leaving for my final time. Retelling would help him develop his oral expressive skills.
2.1.1.1. Jaden is expressive in Korean. He regularly speaks with Ella and Kevin (other Korean students in the class) in Korean, but rarely speaks with American students in English. He is more comfortable in his home language and with his Korean peers. I could allow him to retell the story or pick out the key points in Korean and then dictate it into English for me
