1. The Dodgers during the 1950s

1.1. The Dodgers 1955 roster included but was not limited to: pitchers Don Bessent, Joe Black, Roger Craig. Catchers Roy Campanella, and Rube Walker. Infielders Jim Gilliam, Gil Hodges. Outfirlders Sandy Amoros, George Shuba.

1.2. The Dodgers 1955 starting lineup was: Catcher Campanella, 1st basemen Hodges, 2nd basemen Gilliam, 3rd basemen Robinson Shortstop Reese, left fielder Amoros, Center fielder Snider, and right fielder Furillo.

2. Early History

2.1. The first team to play baseball under modern rules were the New York Knickerbockers. The team was founded on September 23, 1845. In the earlier rules of baseball, a fielder could put a runner out by throwing a ball and hitting the runner. The Knickerbocker Rules now require the fielders to tag the runner, this helps avoid a lot of arguments and fights.

2.2. "Trolley Dodgers" was attached to the Brooklyn ballclub because of the trolley cars weaved its way through Brooklyn. the name was shortened to just dodgers.

2.3. The Brooklyn Dodgers Debut in the National League was in 1890. The dodgers began on a positive note when they won the championship with an 86-43 record. It was the first of 21 National League Pennants that they would win during the next 100 years.

3. World Series and their move to Los Angles

3.1. The 1955 World Series matched the Brooklyn and the New York Yankees. The Dodgers won the seven game Series and captured their first championship in their history.

3.2. The Brooklyn Dodgers were an American Baseball in the major league from 1884 until 1957. After 1957 they moves to Los Angeles,where it continues as the Los Angeles Dodgers.

3.3. After their move to Los Angeles, the Dodgers won National League pennants in 1959, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1988. The Dodgers won World Series championships in 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988, in all the dodgers have competed in 18 World Series: 9 in Brooklyn and 9 in Los Angeles.
