2. Martin Luther King Jr.- led peaceful forms of protest throughout the 1960s
3. The Little Rock Nine- the first students brave enough to enforce desegregation
4. Daisy Bates- led the Little Rock Nine through the challenges of desegregation
5. Abraham Lincoln- promulgated the Emancipation Proclamation
6. Thurgood Marshall- a courageous civil rights lawyer who fought against segregation, the law of the land at the time
