2. General Capabilities and Student Diversity: All students are entitled to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning programs drawn from the Australian Curriculum Technologies. Teachers take account of the range of their students’ current levels of learning, strengths, goals and interests and make adjustments where necessary. All lessons can be changed when needed in order to help any students understand the outcome.

4. Key Concepts/Ideas: The Technologies curriculum looks at systems along with theory to develop the technologies knowledge with the understanding and skills to provide a method for identifying and moving towards ethical, socially responsible and sustainable patterns of living. The Technologies curriculum is a holistic approach where parts of a system are analysed individually to see the whole. The interactions and interrelationships between the parts and how these parts or components influence the system as a whole.

Curriculum aims and objectives: Technologies aims to develop knowledge and understanding along with the skills to ensure that, individually and collaboratively students can learn and understand what is needed for any outcome. The objective, when partnered with the curriculum is that students will be able to investigate, design, plan, manage, create, produce and evaluate technologies solutions.

6. Content Elaboration: Content elaborations are provided for all year groups as support material to illustrate and exemplify what is to be taught and to assist teachers in developing and sharing understanding of the content descriptions.

7. Achievement standards: The achievement standards in each Technologies subject describes progress in the learning area, demonstrating a broad sequence of expected learning. With the help of this framework, teachers will see growth and development in each Technologies subject.

9. Strands: The strands that make up the Australian Technologies Curriculum are: Knowledge and understanding Processes, and production skills.

Cross-curriculum priorities: The three cross-curriculum priorities in the Australian Curriculum are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia and Sustainability. The cross-curriculum priorities are embedded into the curriculum and will have a strong but varying presence depending on their relevance to each of the learning areas.

11. Content Descriptions: In order to uphold the integrity of the content descriptions, do not prescribe approaches to the teaching of Technologies. The content descriptions have been set up to ensure that learning is ordered appropriately and that unnecessary repetition is avoided. They are a guide line to teachers so that they know what to teach and when to teach it.
