Evidence of Climate Change by Mind Map: Evidence of Climate Change

1. Agriculture

1.1. Due to the rise in G.H.G agriculture seriously impair the nutritional value of wheat, rice and other staple crops as the rise in heat effects the growth rate

2. Radiation

2.1. Co2, Water vapour, methane etc. (G.H.G) absorb infrared radiation, trapping heat. satellites can measure this amount of radiation that escapes to outer space. The satellites show over time radiation frequencies are disappearing. This is due to the rise in G.H.G absorbing the radiation. (these frequencies are the exact seem frequency that are absorbed by G.H.G)

3. Ice/ Glaciers

3.1. Using Ice cores scientists can measure up to 1 million years ago. But seeing the bubbles of gas being trapped in the ice you can determine the amount of G.H.G. In Recent times there is more gas bubble in the water causing us to understand the rise in G.H.G

3.2. The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost 150 to 250 cubic kilometers (36 to 60 cubic miles) of ice per year between 2002 and 2006, while Antarctica lost about 152 cubic kilometers (36 cubic miles) of ice between 2002 and 2005.

4. Co2

4.1. The rate in which co2, methane and water vapour is released into the atmosphere is quicker then ever before

5. Oceans

5.1. Sea levels Rose 3.2mm Per year over the Past 15 Years.

5.1.1. Causing floods

5.1.1.1. Costing more money

5.1.2. people’s homes look set to be underwater by 2050

5.2. Ocean acidification: The oceans are currently absorbing about a quarter of the carbon dioxide emitted to the atmosphere annually and are becoming more acidic as a result, leading to concerns about intensifying impacts on marine ecosystems.

5.2.1. Higher chance of cancer because of the acid in the water

5.2.1.1. severe cases include someone with black lung suffocates, unable to draw breath into organs left looking like a blackened sponge. due to the extensive coal emission in Australia.

5.3. Great barrier reef is undergoing major bleaching

5.3.1. It is estimated that more then two-thirds of coral cover in a 700-kilometre stretch of reef off Port Douglas died.

5.3.2. UNESCO released a damning report predicting that the world’s coral reefs are likely to disappear by 2100 unless CO2 emissions drastically reduce.

6. Extreme Weather

6.1. CLIMATE CHANGE DOUBLED THE LIKELIHOOD OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES HEATWAVE

7. stratosphere

7.1. This layer is the 'area' in which the sun 'hits' the earth, usually heating all layers in the process. But the inner layer are being burnt whilst the outer layer or 'stratosphere' is cooling. This is due to the trapping of heat from G.H.G

8. rise

8.1. The planet's average surface temperature has risen about 1.1 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions into the atmosphere. Most of the warming occurred in the past 35 years, with 16 of the 17 warmest years on record occurring since 2001.

8.1.1. Rise in bush fires due to rise in tempreture

8.1.2. 14 of the 15 hottest years on record were past 2000
