2. Congress passed the Gulf of tonkin resolution in belief of the attacks
3. North Vietnamese Reaction
4. from November 1964 to February 1965 more supplies were sent to south Vietnam
5. The Vietcong were urged to attack us bases
6. on 2nd December 1964 fighting began binh Gia just 40 miles south of Saigon it lasted until 3rd January 1965
7. on 7th February,The VC attacked the US airfield at Pleiku. They left nine dead and 128 wounded and 122 aircraft damaged or destroyed

9. there was certainly an attack by north Vietnamese boats on 2nd of august
10. at the start of the evening of 4th august the maddox and the c.Turner Joy thought they were under attack and reported this, and johnson ordered airstrikes despite doubts over the attack
11. the resolution allowed johnson to do whatever he wanted in vietnam although it wasnt a declaration of war
