by Kate Patton
1. Competency Based Training
1.1. Training programs and assessments are made based on participants demonstrating and applying the learned skills
2. Personalized Learning
2.1. Learning should be catered to the personalized needs of the learner and their unique learning style. Trainers must also consider learning pace, language preferences, cultural influences, and work-life balances of participants in order to ensure maximum participation.
3. Continuous Learning
3.1. Training beyond certification and degrees. This trend recognizes the need for adults to continuously undergo learning maintenance and stay up to date with current technologies and practices (Slocum, 2015).
4. Fostering Creativity
4.1. This trend recognizes that multi-modal learning helps to engage learners and aids in memory of information. Using learning activities, arts, and humanity-based projects, learners integrate their learning and promote critical thinking skills (Slocum, 2015).
