1. James Cook

2. Ferdinand Magellan

2.4. Sent five ships to discover a western sea route to the Spice Islands.
2.5. The voyage was long and dangerous, and only one ship returned home three years later.

3. Francisco Pizarro

4. Christopher Columbus

4.4. The consequences of his explorations were severe for the native populations.

5. Diego de Almagro
