Power and Transmission by Mind Map: Power and Transmission

1. Fixed chain/belt

1.1. Having a fixed chain or belt drive will mean that there will have to be an adjuster for the motor housing to adjust the tension on the chain or belt. it will also mean that a lot of trial and error when choosing the correct sprocket sizes.

1.2. Having a fixed chain or belt will likely be the most reliable;pe option for driving the rear wheel(s).

2. Nuvinci CVT

3. 50cc Scooter Variator

3.1. A 50cc scooter variator would be a good design as the car would have good acceleration and top speed, although the design may be hard to implement depending on if the car is 1 or 2 wheel drive.

4. 1 or 2 wheel drive

4.1. 1 wheel drive would make the car want to pull one way or the other depending on which side the motor was driving, though the driver could counteract this. The acceleration may be better due to the fact the motor will only have to turn one wheel rather than 2 wheels and a drive shaft.

4.2. 2 wheel drive would mean that there would be an even power distribution, but the torque of the motor would be spread over the driveshaft and 2 wheels which could potentially reduce acceleration and range.
