We’re pleased to announce that the MindMeister application for iPad is now available from the Apple App Store.
Based on our award-winning web interface, the MindMeister iPad interface has been designed to specifically leverage the iPad’s large screen surface, ultimately making mobile mind mapping more convenient, productive, and fun.
The MindMeister for iPad app is designed to function seamlessly with our web-based online service. Based on a completely re-written sync API, users that are out of range of, or have switched their wireless connection off, can still sketch out their ideas, formulate plans, etc. on their iPad. Once back in range of an internet connection, the MindMeister iPad app will synchronize these changes with the users’ browser based MindMeister account. The MindMeister iPad app is the only mind mapping application on the market today that offers this vital function.

“For the iPad version of MindMeister, we really wanted to revamp the way we approach a mobile version of our web interface. By utilizing the unique features of the iPad, we’re happy to give users a more refined, stable, and ultimately more enjoyable MindMeister experience on the go,” explains our CTO Till Volmer.
Naturally, the MindMeister iPad app can be used as a stand-alone application and does not require a MindMeister account to function. Whether used in conjunction with our web-based account our not, all MindMeister iPad app users will have access to a number of our familiar features including:
- Sharing mind maps directly from the device
- Easily creating and editing child and sibling nodes
- Adding icons, colors, and styles
- Full dragging and dropping support
- Zooming in and out
- Adding maps to favorites
When used in conjunction with an online MindMeister account, users also receive the following additional benefits:
- Synchronization of iPad creations
- Access to our patent pending Time Machine function and unlimited undo/redo
- Import from MindManager, Freemind and text files
- Export as MindManager, Freemind, MS Word, PDF and image files
We realize this has been a long time coming, and we’d like to thank each and every one of you who’ve commented and questioned the app’s progress. We took a bit longer than expected in releasing the app to the world, but also produced a completely new sync API in the process, ultimately resulting in a much more stable mobile MindMeister experience.
The MindMeister app for iPad is now available to iPad users everywhere for $7.99 directly from the iTunes Store.

I bought the application, but it does not work on a French iPad updated with the latest version of iOS without jailbreak. It stops when I grab my login and password and leave completely. It does not appear translated into French. Is there a solution?
We\’ve almost finished note and link support and will submit the app after some testing, in about a week. Tasks should follow soon after.
We already fixed this issue in the French version and submitted a new version (3.0.1) to the Apple App Store.
and what about Android ?
Any chance of having the app handle VGA output? I like having Mindmeister connected to a projector during meetings, so I will still have to use my laptop for now.
I bought the Premium Account but I\’m bummed that I now have to pay to use it on the iPad – shdn\’t this be free for us to use since we\’ve paid for the service?
When will it be possible to add icons & colors on the iphone.
Im not buying an Ipad…
You can add icons and colors in the current version of the iPhone app – make sure you\’re updated to the latest version though. We\’ll also update the iPhone version soon.
Thats strange. I´ve downloaded the latest version and cant switch from keyboard to either icons or colors etc.
What iOS version are you running? There are still some issues with iOS 4 that the next update should fix.
Im using iOS4… tested on both 4 and 4.0.1
When are you planning to release the update?
It does not work on a spanish iPad…I bought it but when trying to init it, it chrushes…
Very dissapointing 🙁
Single click expanding/collapsing a branch would be intuitive and fast.
Perhaps by making the little blue dot (on the right side of the node) large and give it a little more space. Or by having a + on the right side like on the desktop.
Bought the iPad app and love it except for one major problem. You cannot use notes. We use these extensively and therefore the iPad app is no good to us if we cannot use notes. Is this something that is going to be added soon?
Henry, were you thinking something along these lines:
Andrew, also the notes feature is already in the works:
Yep it is a bummer that you have to pay for the iPad or iPhone apps even though you pay for the subscription service 🙁
MindMeister is an exception to most Cloud-Apps companies. Evernote, Remember The Milk, DropBox – all have their client apps including iPad for free!
Just installed MindMeister for my iPad 32GB WIFI. Project file total lost upon launching app! (local) Happened twice as waited for app to launch, proceeded to return to iPad menu only to find missing file/map. Please help
Frustrated Mind Mapper
I do love the web service and the app, but the web doesn\’t work really well on iPad Safari and the iPad app is not as complete as the web and it lacks most of the features. Is there any change to see all this fixed soon?
We\’re rolling out new features in the coming weeks. We have notes and links scheduled for the next release – aiming for a late next week launch (pending Apple\’s approval).
Just click the first icon in the icon list, it is the \”Remove\” button. The new version will have an updated UI that makes this more intuitive.
Big yes for the node redesign for single click expanding/collapsing. Also looks great by the way.
(are the icons big enough/ each have enough space to touch the correct one easily?)
Looking forward to the updates
Is there an undo button? Deleting takes too much time. Suggestion: check out the IA writer for iPad thet have all the most important features.
Are MeindMeister mind maps synced over a secure i.e. SSL connection?
How do I remove a connection? There doesn\’t seem to be an option to do this on the map without deleting the origin of the connection.
Nevermind, I figured it out. User error!
I bought the app long ago and everything was working perfect for me until I updated ipad iOS 6 version… I don\’t even get an issue I just launch the app and it seems to start but after a several seconds the app just closes it self…what would be the problem? I have important work in there and I wan to access again.
Sorry to hear you\’re having problems. If all your maps are synched with your online account you could try deleting and reinstalling the app. Failing that we can offer you access to the beta version of our upcoming 5.0.1 release.
Thank you!!! I did what you said and everything is working perfect 😀
The info regarding the apps says you can use mindmeister as a stand alone app on iPad/iPhone, but I can see how to do this. It just comes up with a screen asking me to log in or create an account. I am using the latest version, down loaded today 17/march/2013
