Over the past half year, we’ve been busy working on a number of really new cool features in MindMeister. We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this release – and so have we – so we’re very excited to finally announce this major update!

All-New Presentation Mode
This is easily the stand-out feature of the new MindMeister release, and naturally, we’re very proud of it.
Ditching our previous presentation mode function, we’ve replaced it with a cutting-edge, Prezi-style slideshow module, which is sure to wow audiences bored by old-fashioned, linear slideshows.
Watch the teaser video
So how does it work?
- In the bottom toolbar, click on the presentation icon
- Create new slides by clicking the + button or press CTRL and drag over topics
- Apply transitions to your slides – fast zoom, slow zoom, pan or blur
- Present to your audience from your computer or an iOS or Android tablet
- Or live-broadcast your slideshow to other users in collaboration mode!
The new Presentation Mode is available starting today for all MindMeister users, including holders of the free basic account.
For more info watch the video or visit our presentation help section.
Floating Topics
You can now create floating topics in MindMeister, i.e. branches that are not connected to the center topic, giving you even more freedom when creating clear and concise mind maps.
How to create floating nodes?
- Drag the topic away from the center topic until the line is detached
- Pressing and holding down the SHIFT Key while dragging a floating topic keeps it detached
- To reattach a topic drag it towards to center node until the connection is made (or press SHIFT again while dragging)
Connection Labels
Organizing and structuring more complex information in MindMeister has just gotten a whole lot easier. You can now type the arbitrary connections between topics by adding a label, helping you to easily visualize relationships between sets of information.
How to create a label?
- Create a connection between two topics
- Click the edit icon at the base of the connection
- Choose “Add Label”, type in your label and press ENTER / RETURN
- Use the edit icon again to modify and delete labels
More Enhancements
We hope you like the new release as much as we do! Let us know your feedback in the comments below 🙂
simply awesome! especially the presentation mode!
I am really delighted you have implemented something I have been wanting to see somewhere other than CMAPS – the facility to do concept mapping by defining the relationships between concepts on a space – GREAT!
just to add that I think the disconnected/floating nodes seem to want to get connected back to the central node too easilly – anything can be done about that?
actually – scratch that last comment – your implementation of it is cool – just remember to hold down the shift key while dragging right?!
Very nice new features and enhancements again!
Some idea\’s upon first usage of presentation mode:
– when you close the presentation mode, stay centered at the last slide location (currently reverts to central node, which is nice visually, but could also be achieved by adding central node as last slide, or by selectable option in the footer)
– ability to view notes while in presentation (mouse-over unfolds too large to read when in a slide, popup cannot be opened when you click on it while in presentation mode)
Congrats to yet another super cool new release!
– Presentation mode really rocks!
– The connection labels make life so much easier
What\’s absolutely amazing is that you guys add life and functionality without cluttering the UI unlike some other companies out there in the market.
Still a steep learning curve!
Thanks for keeping MindMeister flying!
Great! Thx for the cool new features – especially the \”Floating Topics\” and the \”Connection Labels\”. Awesome. Thx Michael 😉
Great, good job
Thanks for the great update. The ability to add labels to connections is very useful.
However, it does bring up limitation that may not have been an issue before. There doesn\’t seem to be a way to add multiple connections between two nodes.
I\’m sure I can use floating nodes and two connections to achieve the same result, but ideally it would be nice to be able to add multiple connections between two nodes.
thanks again for all the new features,
Kam
Way to go!
I really love the new features. This is a nice step forward and for me a reason to stay subscribed to my favorite online mindmapping web service.
It would be very nice if you could include the possibility of creating floating topics without having to move them first.
Keep up the fine work @mindmeister
Greetings

Thank you everyone for all the great feedback. We really value every one of your comments (suggestions and praise!!), we take everything into consideration as it helps us to keep improving MindMeister.
We are always excited when introducing new features to you and it\’s great to hear what you think!
Thank you again and happy mind mapping! 🙂

Hi team of mindmaping, could you pls.send key easy learning to practice for mind map because I still not understand well about your process
A really interesting and welcomed set of features!
However, we even lower on vertical space now.. :^ /
(I know side-bars instead of toolbar/statusbar are in the making 🙂
Keep up the good work!
Hey,
Is there a way to share the generated slideshows on a worpress blog?
Hi,
Presentations cannot be viewed when embedded. You could make the mind map public and then link to the presentation from WordPress using an image. You can create a link to start the presentation automatically.
Hope this helps!
I first created an account in 2008. Since then I have used the service most of the time, I think I just had six months when I stop using it which was most recently. I\’m now back and it\’s certainly improved but I have one issue that remains and that is around scheduling and planning. Are there any developments on your plan to develop a better way to manage tasks and dates, when I have multiple project and therefore multiple maps is quite difficult to use the service to stay in control, to have visibility of multiple tasks and their timeframes. I don\’t imagine that you are planning to give an ability to export all live tasks to a Gantt chart, but any thoughts on what you might be working on would be very welcome.
Gantt charts are a must have if you would like to get money from me for this service. I´m thinking about booking some accounts for the company I´m working at, but without this feature this won´t happen.
Great work!! Gantt view please!!!
I\’m really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog.
Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues?
A few of my blog visitors have complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but
looks great in Opera. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this problem?
Hi there,
We are using WordPress and our own customized theme. All modern themes generally support modern web browsers, but there can always be issues with outdated versions of Internet Explorer.
How do I come out of presentation mode?
Thanks
Hi Jeremy, if you just click on the presentation mode icon in the bottom left corner of your editor again, presentation mode should close. Cheers
Will there be a possibility to make floating topics directly, besides dragging them from the center?
Hi Alexis,
You can also create floating topics by right-clicking on them (or on Mac: CTRL + click) and choosing \”Disconnect\” from the context menu. You can reconnect a topic the same way.
Cheers
