Presentation Mode

Video Transcript

Hi again and welcome back to MindMeister. In this video tutorial, I’m going to show you how easy it is to turn a mind map into a dynamic slideshow, using MindMeister’s practical Presentation Mode. I’ve already logged in to MindMeister and I’ve opened up a mind map that I’d like to turn into a slideshow. To get started, I click on the presentation icon here in the bottom left-hand corner of the mind map editor. To create my first slide for the presentation, I press the COMMAND key - or CONTROL, if you’re working on Windows - and while I do that, I click and drag my cursor over the center topic. A small thumbnail of the slide immediately appears in the footer below. I want my next slide to show an overview of the entire branch here, so I just drag my cursor across all of these topics while holding down the COMMAND key again. And my second slide is done. To show the individual topics of this branch, I can now create smaller slides on top of the big one, and then do the same for the rest of the topics in my map. If I’ve made a mistake, I can always go back and resize a slide or move it somewhere else. I can also change the order of slides by dragging them to a new position in the footer. MindMeister offers 4 different effects to transition from one slide to the next during the presentation. You can access the transition settings of a slide by pressing CONTROL while clicking on the slide in the footer. By default, MindMeister ‘pans’ from one slide to the next, but you can also select a blur effect or use one of the zoom options. When you’re ready to show your presentation, click the “Start Slideshow” button on the right, and MindMeister will go into fullscreen mode and show your first slide. By the way, if there are other people currently accessing your mind map while you start the slideshow, a dialogue box will appear and ask if you’d like to live broadcast your presentation to them. This is a great way to present information during online meetings and ensure everybody is seeing the right slide at the right time. You can navigate through your presentation by pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard, or by clicking on the arrows shown at the bottom of the screen. When you’re done, just close the slideshow with this button. You can also display presentations on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device, using MindMeister’s mobile apps; You can export the slides as images or PDFs; And you can embed interactive versions of your presentations in websites and blog posts.
