1. Inside-Outside Circle

1.1. Students are placed in a circle and face a partner that will rotate to exchange in an activity.

1.1.1. STEP 1: Form pairs. Ask students to form a circle with their partner facing them. (TWO circles)

1.1.2. STEP 2: Inside circle's student ask partner a question from their cards. Partner answers. Inside student praise or coach.

1.1.3. STEP 3: Switch out roles, outside asks inside.

1.1.4. STEP 4: Switch cards and repeat Step 2+3.

1.1.5. STEP 5 Teacher tells students to move # pace in clockwise direction.

2. Heads Together

2.1. Students put their heads together to reach a consensus

2.1.1. STEP 1: Teacher asks a question, students write down individually.

2.1.2. STEP 2: Students discuss in their teams until they have 1 answer.

2.1.3. STEP 3: Teacher asks one teammate to answer for the team, randomly.

3. Mix-Pair-Share

3.1. Class mixes around until the teacher says "pairs" and they pair up with 1st person they see.

3.1.1. STEP1: Mix students.

3.1.2. STEP 2: Call out "pair". Students will pair up with the closest person. If not, they raise their hands and match up.

3.1.3. STEP 3: Teacher asks a question.

3.1.4. STEP 4: Students share their answers.

4. RoundRobin

4.1. Students take turns answering one another in their teams (4)to share their point.

4.1.1. STEP 1:Teacher asks a question or a problem with multiple solutions.

4.1.2. STEP 2: student 1 answers, student 2 after, until they have all share their answer.

5. RoundTable

5.1. Students take turn writing responses in teams.

5.1.1. STEP 1: Students, in their team, are asked to answer and write on 1 paper for the whole team.

5.1.2. STEP 2: Teacher makes a statement with multiple choices.

5.1.3. STEP 3: Paper moves to the student on left ,until its filled, or all have answered.

6. Three-Step Interview

6.1. Students interview in pairs and share in their team.

6.1.1. STEP 1: Teacher provides interview questions and a time limit.

6.1.2. STEP 2: In pairs, Student A interviews student B for a set time. They switch up the role.

6.1.3. STEP 3: In team: RoundRobin to share what they have learned from their partners from interviews.

7. RallyRobin

7.1. Partners (2) take turn answering.

7.1.1. STEP 1: Students are put in pairs.

7.1.2. STEP 2: Teacher states a problem.

7.1.3. STEP 3: While taking turns, students share with their partners.

8. Crossword Puzzle Jigsaw

8.1. Students of a team all have different parts to solve a puzzle.

8.1.1. STEP 1: Each student takes a card.

8.1.2. STEP 2: Using a RoundRobin, they share their part.

8.1.3. STEP 3: With all the parts/clues, they must solve the puzzle.

9. RallyTable

9.1. Pairs write down sentences and contribute.

9.1.1. STEP 1: Teacher provides a statement.

9.1.2. STEP 2: In pairs, 1 student is asked to write down something first.

9.1.3. STEP 3: Student 1 writes down something, then passes to student 2 to add more.

10. Within-team Jigsaw

10.1. Each student masters a piece of a whole before sharing to the team.

10.1.1. STEP 1: Each student is given information about a part of something. They have to master the content.

10.1.2. STEP 2: They use RoundRobin to share what they have learned.

10.1.3. STEP 3: They ensure others understand.

11. Think-Pair-Share

11.1. Students have to write down their opinions before sharing to partner and the whole class.

11.1.1. STEP 1: Students write down their opinion about a topic.

11.1.2. STEP 2: In pairs, they share and discuss with a partner.

11.1.3. STEP 3: Teacher asks pairs to share their opinion with the whole class.

12. Pairs Jigsaw

12.1. Each half of a class is given a topic to master.

12.1.1. STEP 1: Divide class in half. Each half is given different material to master.

12.1.2. STEP 2: Each student find another student with the opposite topic. They share what they have learned.

12.1.3. STEP 3: They can ask another group for help.

13. Timed Pair Share

13.1. Pairs share on a topic for a set time.

13.1.1. STEP 1: Teacher proposes a topic and sets a timer.

13.1.2. STEP 2: In pairs, Student A shares its opinion with B. When time is up, roles are reversed.

14. Classic Jigsaw (base, home teams, expert teams)

14.1. Team Jigsaw

14.1.1. STEP 1: Each team gets assigned a part of a text and become experts. Another team gets the same information. (TWIN TEAM)

14.1.2. STEP 2: Teams share with teammates.

14.1.3. STEP 3: Team shares with TWIN team

14.1.4. STEP 4: Split up teams around the class to have experts of all parts of a text, heterogeneously.

14.2. Classic

14.2.1. STEP 1: Each member of the team gets a clue.

14.2.2. STEP 2: Teammates share a clue, while taking turns.

14.2.3. STEP 3: Students are evaluated on the whole.

14.3. Expert

14.3.1. STEP 1: Assign a hard topic to best learners and harder topics to lower students.

14.3.2. STEP 2: Ask them to become expert on the topic.

14.3.3. STEP 3: They share, but high achiever to help teammates understand.

15. Team Pair Solo

15.1. In their team, students share on a topic before doing so in pairs before doing individual work.

15.1.1. STEP 1: In their team, students share ideas on a topic or a problem.

15.1.2. STEP 2: Students are put in pairs to discuss it more thoroughly.

15.1.3. STEP 3: Individually, they solve the problem or write what they think about the topic.

16. Find Someone Who

16.1. Students walk around the classroom to ask their peers, while in pairs, knows the answer. If they do, they become "Someone Who Knows".

16.1.1. STEP 1-Students walk around class with a raised hand until they find a partner (not a teammate).

16.1.2. STEP 2- In pairs: 1st student asks 2nd a question from the worksheet, 2nd replies and initial that question of student 1 worksheet. Student 2 asks his questions to 1, 1 initials and they shake hands when done.

16.1.3. STEP 3: Students raise their hands, move around, and find a new partner. Repeat until the worksheet is complete.

16.1.4. STEP 4: in base teams: students compare answers and discuss. If not certain, they all raise their hands.

17. Think-Square-Share

17.1. This is a technique used to aid students' reasoning were they think, consult and share.

17.1.1. STEP 1: Students are asked to write down their knowledge/view on a topic.

17.1.2. STEP 2: Students team up and exchange their ideas while ea h taking their turn.

17.1.3. STEP 3: One student from the team will express the general standing of its team to the whole class.

18. Talking Chips

18.1. Students place chips in the middle on the table to ensure everyone contributes.

18.1.1. STEP 1: Students are in their team(4). Teacher proposes topic.

18.1.2. STEP 2: Each time a student answers, he moves a chip to the middle of the table.

18.1.3. STEP 3: When all the chips have been used. They collect and start over.

19. Fan-N-Pick

19.1. Students pick a card and answer a question and take turns in a clockwise manner for each round.

19.1.1. STEP 1-Student 1 asks partner to pick a card

19.1.2. STEP 2-Students 2 draws a card, reads the question aloud to teammate 3.

19.1.3. STEP 3- Student 3 answers question

19.1.4. STEP 4- Student 4 agrees/disagrees with the answer.
